The image below is a 3D volume rendering from X-ray CT sections of a gymbal prototype with a cross section through the center. The colors represent different types of metals.   Yellow is steel, Red is brass, and Dark Redish Blue is Aluminum.   To generate the image took 10 min. but once the image was saved it could be flashed on the screen in a fraction of a second.   To produce a rotatating animation 360 views were rendered.   To render all 360 views took 2 and a half days.   This process was usualy started after work hours on Friday and finished early Monday morning.   When the images were played back in sequence one could see the volume rendering from all sides through 1 axis.   The sequence play time took a little over 1 min.
